  • Providing one hundred (100) scholarships annually to students on the late George C. Jacobs’ Scholarship program; since than scholarship programs from other graduates and philanthropists have been established.
  • Distributing stationeries, teaching materials, textbooks and furniture to Carroll High School and other schools in Yekepa and Monrovia;
  • Rehabilitation of four of the eight toilets in the school;
  • Minimum renovation works of the school building (to make the facility conducive for learning).
  • Rehabilitation of library and installation of 10 computers (the school has increased the number of computers to a total of 25 pieces and a projector)
  • 70% completion of rehabilitation of the science Laboratory

  • External painting of the school (after decades of lack of painting)
  • Participated in gala day events and conducted series of meetings to motivate staffs and students
  • Sprayed the school compound to keep it secure from harmful and destructive creatures (snakes , termites, scorpions, etc.)
  • To boost the teachers’ moral and motivate them to render quality education services to the school and students, the Association paid bonuses to teachers and staff members of the school.

Through a series of activities, public awareness campaigns and dinner dance, the school’s profile has been raised both nationally and internationally.

Carroll High School of today needs our support to make it comparative with other institutions and to uphold the vision of the forerunners of this institution.

Our Story

Carroll High Alumni Association (CHAA): CHAA was established in September 1999 in an effort to bring together former students and graduates in a forum to discuss, plan and implement activities geared towards strengthening and moving the school to a higher height. CHAA was established with the help of former students who tirelessly worked to get the Association to where it is today. We are indebted to those pioneers of our Association. CHAA has a membership of more than 300 registered members.

Membership is opened to all graduates, former students, teachers and individuals supportive of CHS academic programs. Membership is granted upon payment of USD$20.00 registration fee and a $USD 10.00 annual due, social welfare fees of $10.00. Active participation in organizational events, planning meetings, and annual convention is considered a strong determinant of membership.

Challenges in dealing with pending activities: With the advent of the global economic difficulties, the Association faces numerous challenges in dealing with pending activities which need immediate and adequate response.

  • Upholding academic excellence and discipline
  • Sustaining scholarship programs amid global economic downturn (financial conditions of contributors to these programs are challenged) .
  • The management of the school is also undergoing a period of tough time. Improving the management of the school is a serious challenge that needs to be addressed (renumeration for qualified staff and administrators is reaching a crisis level). To retain the teachers, their salaries and benefits must be improved to attract current teachers and recruit qualified teachers and staff).

The Association rehabilitated toilets, library, school’s science laboratory, basketball court, exterior painting of school. Looking forward, CHAA plans to rehabilitate the music room and other structures.

Membership Day Program: The Association has undertaken numerous activities geared toward attracting and maintaining its members through reunion programs, conventions, and fund-raising dinners.

Looking Forward,

  • Rehabilitation of key structures and program implementation (Science Laboratory, Music Room, school facility, etc.)
  • Increase transparency and accountability in everything
  • Seek external funding and expand funding base of the association
  • Public relations and communication (update the Website and social media page)
