Message from the Board
I bring you greetings from the Board of the Carroll High School Alumni Association in Liberia. As I look
back on this past year, there is so much to be thankful for and so much to appreciate. I find myself
thinking of accomplishments, too numerous to include in one statement, and the challenges we faced
together.
My inspiration for this end-of-year message comes from the recent school Gala Day and Graduation
programs held in Yekepa which I was a part of. We celebrated the founding anniversary of our beloved
alma mater and wished well, the young graduates that were once again leaving the walls of Bishop
Carroll High School. It was a feeling of nostalgia as I sat and reflected on the day, I found myself in the
exact same situation several years back.
My heart warmed, on that very cold day, as I listened to the young students reliving their various
experiences at Carroll High. One person shared that they found the CHS family so welcoming and
helpful, from their first day, to their graduation day. Longer tenured students talked about how time has
flown by and how they feel personally fulfilled and ready to move into the world.
As I sat and watched, my key takeaway was, all of this is possible because of the sacrifices and hard work
put in by some individuals. So, what comes to mind at this point is giving back. My appeal to my fellow
alumni members is that we need to give back to our beloved Alma mater. Giving does not only mean
giving money, we can give our time and love to the young ones as we had received while at CHS.
We came together because we believe that education is a right, and that every child deserves access to
quality education no matter who they are, where they live or how much money they have.
We know that Carroll High School is uniquely positioned to make an impact because of our experience, our
collective expertise, and our drive and passion.
Who we are on the inside is indelibly connected to how we work externally and directly impacts our
outcomes. I am proud of who we are and what we have accomplished over the years and immensely
proud and humbled to be called an alumni of CHS.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of this special community, CHSAA. Every day, it
is my absolute honor to be a part of this amazing team and I am endlessly grateful for that. As I close, let
me close on this note, our little brothers and sisters need us so it is a must that we give generously of
our monies, times and passion.
My wish to each of you is to take the moments that fulfill you, that give you strength, and hold on to
them as you take your well-deserved end-of-year break. I wish you all peace, love, and fulfillment as we
head into 2023.
With gratitude,
